bio

Ellorie McKnight is a bilingual singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist currently living in Whitehorse, Yukon. She performs her own songs as a solo act, duo with drums, and with full  band (drums, bass, pedal steel/fiddle). Ellorie also sings, fiddles, and plays guitar and banjo in a number of other projects.

Ellorie’s songs can be described as nostalgic folk, inspired by vast landscapes, endless dreaming, and wild hearts. She released her first solo EP in 2021, titled for the heart’s sake, recorded at Green Needle Records in Whitehorse, Yukon. This record is an intimate short collection of stripped down songs (accoustic guitar and vocals) showcasing Ellorie’s delicate vocals. Her second EP, titled Equinox, was released May 3 2024, and features six songs recorded as a live, in-studio, off-the floor performance. The record features Brigitte Jardin on drums, Jeff Dineley on bass, Ryan McNally on pedal steel and vocals, and Kieran Poile on fiddle, creating a layered and detailed sound complimenting Ellorie’s voice and melodies.

Ellorie has also created music and collaborated with a number of acclaimed musicians, including Chloe Laberge (duo record titled Crows, 2014), Claude Munson (violin, cello on Claude Munson & the Storm Outside, 2012), Louis-Phillipe Robillard (viola on Le Cafe des Oiseaux, 2009), Ryan McNally (duo record, self-titled, 2022), She has also performed with Marabou (fiddle and viola), The Lucky Ones (fiddle), and Elijah Bekk (banjo). Ellorie has performed at festivals and venues across Canada and Alaska both solo and with different projects, including Woodstove Festival (Cumberland, BC - solo with guest Miles Zurawell, 2023), Print and Publishing Festival (Dawson City, YT - with Saltwater Hank, 2023), Alaska Folk Festival (Juneau, AK - with Ryan McNally & Kieran Poile, 2023), Festival Saint-Jean (Whitehorse, YT - with Ryan McNally & Remi Dean, 2022), Wonderhorse Festival (Whitehorse, YT - solo, 2022), and Kluane Mountain Bluegrass Festival (Haines Junction, YT - with Ryan McNally, 2022).
